An Indian interpretation of Beethoven’s Fur Elise, the famous piano piece believed to have been composed circa 1810 but was published only in 1867, forty years after Beethoven’s death. This Indian mix of Fur Elise is a fusion of Western Classical composition with Indian Classical music. Soft Piano grooves are backed by rhythm from Drums and Tabla, and Carnatic music is entwined into the piano notes with punchy vocals of Jathis, Swarams and Alaap in raga Keeravani and lively sound of the violin playing. The conversation between the Tabla, Violin, Vocals and the Drums, weaves together the Indian Classical concept of ""Sawaal Jawaab"" or ""Call and Response"" with the flow of Fur Elise melody. The music adaptation of the western ‘Fur Elise’ is by Rithesh Iyer (Table & drums), Ashwin Seshadri (Piano), Rishabh Ranganathan (Violin), Aravind Sundar (Vocals) and Nagaari (Bass and Production)
The idea for this music production began with the development of a Kathak dance piece to be performed to Beethoven's Fur Elise composition. From there on the dancers and musicians worked hard together to give shape to this challenging but exciting idea. They collaborated to blend a core Western classical composition with core Indian classical concepts which resulted in this Western Indian classical Fusion piece.
